Our Wedding Anniversary

I just want to say happy anniversary to Mr. Rosemary Lane, my husband Chris! It was 9 years ago today that we said our "I do's" and it has been an incredible adventure ever since!!! Thanks to Chris who is so supportive of me in everything I do, I have found blogging and the exciting world it has opened for me. It doesn't matter whether I am cooking or decorating or writing, or training for the occasional marathon, he is always there with his love and support as he continually cheers me on.

So here is to you honey because you are such a wonderful husband to me and loving father to our children...we are truly blessed.
I am chilling the champagne and marinating the steaks.

Happy Anniversary!!!
I love you so very much!!

Christmas is in the Air...

Even though our temperatures here are topping out in the 60's, the time of the year for good cheer has finally arrived. So the kids and myself along with a few friends were off to pick out our Christmas tree! (Chris was off golfing...)

And here's the one we selected...a real butte wouldn't you say? So we asked Trevor's daddy cut down our Christmas tree...

And he did...then Michael and Trevor hauled the tree up the hill to our car. The best part is, aside from the time spent with friends, our tree cost only $20 at a local tree farm on Valley Road in Port Murray, N.J. When was the last time you spent $20 for a tree of any size? This is a 7 footer but all trees no matter size or type are $20!!

Later on we took an evening stroll through downtown Clinton to look at all of the beautiful window displays...

Gotta love this dress! Look at the Christmas balls hanging off of the skirt...adorable!

And who could blame Gracie for wanting to do a little shopping and try on a few girly girl things?

Here is hoping all of your Christmas dreams come true!

A Dining Room Dressed for the Holidays

I love love love Christmas and I simply adore a festive table. I like to incorporate all of the elements in my dining room in an effort to create a warm holiday feel. This year I wanted to use as many natural materials in my decorating as possible, but I also decided to give this space a little bling by adding touches of gold...Everywhere!

I took my cue from the table runner which I've had for umpteen years and actually haven't used in a while. The runner has pine cones, holly and greens, so I wanted to take the colors and the theme straight across the whole table setting. For my centerpiece I bought three plastic plant pots at Walmart for just a few dollars and spray painted them gold. Then I took some branches from my yard and sprayed them white, and placed them in the pots which I filled with floral foam. Green moss, more greens, pine cones and gold ribbon finished off the arrangement.

A Chirstmas ball was placed in each coffee cup for color and interest, plus I love this shade of green, and I put pine cones in gold votive holders and used them to display my place cards.

As a final touch I dressed up my chairs with gold gilded white bows and added a spray of greens to each one. Some white pine garland was draped over the top of the curtain rod and a plain green wreath was hung between the windows. I also placed some loose greens from my yard on the chandelier and looped old gold napkin rings around each candlestick.

I host Christmas Eve every year, so hopefully for my dinner guests, my dining room will add to the magic of this very special evening!
