Positively Perfect Pumpkin Russian

Halloween treats ain't just for kids!!!

Here's another super delicious way of celebrating Autumn with one of my favorite flavors of the season, pumpkin. Only this time it is in  liquid form. Look at that fabulous pumpkin color...don't you just want to pick up the glass and take a sip right now?

This tasty adult treat was made with both pumpkin and coffee liqueurs, plus some pumpkin vodka and light cream. (Lots of booze in this one folks!)

Here are the amounts you need to make a perfect Pumpkin Russian.

1 ounce coffee liqueur
3 ounces Pumpkin liqueur
1 ounce pumpkin vodka
1 ounce light cream ( I used fat free half-n-half and it still tastes yummy)

I then put it in my cocktail shaker with some ice and shook my little heart out!. However you can easily mix it and then pour it over some ice...either way it is still scrumptilly-ishes!

Go ahead and garnish the drink with a spicy cinnamon stick. This is definitely on my radar for a very Happy Halloween night!

Antique Market English Ironstone Pitcher and Basin

This past weekend was a mighty busy one for me as I attended my 35th class reunion on Saturday night, and then spent the entire day Sunday with my college roommate antiquing out in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. I only picked up one item there and it was this beautiful ironstone pitcher and basin.

It was on an "AS IS" table for only $10 most likely because it has a few cracks in both the bowl and the pitcher. But I loved the pretty detail of the handle and the embossed design around the middle of
the pitcher.

However before I even got out to Lancaster I was at my sister Kim's house where she gifted me 4 pretty blue and white dishes she had picked up at an auction for only a dollar. They were all crafted in England!

I am very excited about my new pitcher/basin combo, it is so perfect for our home. And what a glorious autumn day I spent milling around the different tables of the antique market, as they were filled with wonderful old pieces of just about everything. Thank you too to my sister Kim for the beautiful dishes...I simply love them!

Antiquing in Lancaster County ~ Shupp's Grove

Yesterday I spent a glorious afternoon with my college roommate antiquing at an outside market enjoying the fresh fall air and stunning pictorial views. To be more specific we were in Adamstown Pennsylvania, part of Lancaster County. Lancaster is also very near and dear to our hearts as well because that is where we first came to know each other as college freshman some 30 years ago.

Shupp's Grove was the spot and it was decked out greet to us in  the beautiful colors of autumn.

There was plenty to look at...how about this gorgeous cobalt blue glassware?

 Lots of vintage ware too...

and a bauble to go along with any attire your can think of.

I adore the charming fabric bunting...just may have to recreate this for my own home.

Plenty of vintage Pfagltzgraff pottery as well.

And who didn't grow up with one of these Corning coffee pots in their home?

It was a wonderful day in Lancaster County...planning a trip back and maybe even do an over-nighter so we can hit more of the antique shops in the area!

Wishing you a fabulous start to your week!

PS...I'll share with you later what I picked up while shopping!

Simple Lamp Makeover using Metallic Spray Paint and Jute Twine

Today I decided to update an old lamp my parents gave me in the '80's when I purchased my very first bedroom set. Back then brass lamps were the rage and so my parents gifted me this lamp for my new bedroom nightstand.

Well as the years flew by and trends changed, my little lamp ended up being a pretty permanent fixture in the attic. Then the other day I was going through the attic to pull out my Halloween decorations and I stumbled upon this long forgotten lamp.

Now I knew I was going to need another lamp for my living room sofa table, so I brought it down and placed it next to the pretty mercury glass and jute lamp already in the living room...and it was a perfect size to balance out the other table!

Below is a pic of the lamp already in the living room.

So I taped up the anything that wasn't brass and sprayed on a fresh coat of Valspars' metallic silver.

Next I added some jute to the white part of the base by spraying it with adhesive and then simply wrapping the jute onto the lamp. I also added a cute tassel to the neck of the lamp.

The lampshade was a simple score from Walmart...the cost was somewhere around $10 - $12.

Now I have the perfect compliment to my other table lamp! Thank goodness I didn't go out and buy another lamp...I think Mr. Rosemary Lane would have clocked me over the head with it!
