Independence Day Tribute: "This Is My Song"

As the holiday weekend comes to a close, I'd like to share with you a song which we sang in church today, and I have to say that it never fails to move me to tears. It is a song of peace, peace for the world and peace for our human hearts. The lyrics were written in 1934 by Lloyd Stone and set to the melody of Finland's national anthem titled "Finlandia" written by Jean Sibelius in 1899.

Please take a moment to listen to the moving words and peaceful melody of this truly beautiful song.

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

This is My Song

This is my song
Oh God of all the nations
A song of peace for lands so far away
This is my home, the country where my heart is

Here are my hopes my dreams my holy shrine
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean
And sunlight beams on clover leaf and pine
But other lands have sunlight too and clover

And skies are everywhere as blue as mine
Oh hear my song, o God of all the nations
A song of peace for their land and for mine
