I love love love Christmas and I simply adore a festive table. I like to incorporate all of the elements in my dining room in an effort to create a warm holiday feel. This year I wanted to use as many natural materials in my decorating as possible, but I also decided to give this space a little bling by adding touches of gold...Everywhere!
I took my cue from the table runner which I've had for umpteen years and actually haven't used in a while. The runner has pine cones, holly and greens, so I wanted to take the colors and the theme straight across the whole table setting. For my centerpiece I bought three plastic plant pots at Walmart for just a few dollars and spray painted them gold. Then I took some branches from my yard and sprayed them white, and placed them in the pots which I filled with floral foam. Green moss, more greens, pine cones and gold ribbon finished off the arrangement.
A Chirstmas ball was placed in each coffee cup for color and interest, plus I love this shade of green, and I put pine cones in gold votive holders and used them to display my place cards.
As a final touch I dressed up my chairs with gold gilded white bows and added a spray of greens to each one. Some white pine garland was draped over the top of the curtain rod and a plain green wreath was hung between the windows. I also placed some loose greens from my yard on the chandelier and looped old gold napkin rings around each candlestick.
I host Christmas Eve every year, so hopefully for my dinner guests, my dining room will add to the magic of this very special evening!
