Share Your Style Link Party #24

Good evening and welcome back to our Share Your Style party!!!

Each week one of your hosts will take a turn choosing the features, and then ALL EIGHT of us will share them on our blogs for tons of exposure.

Amanda from Dixie Delights

"I'm 'delighted' to be back as your host for the 24th Share Your Style party!!  This week at Dixie Delights I shared our summer lemonade stand, kicked off a #colormehappyparty on Instagram, and shared all sorts of details on our week in Savannah (starting here)."

The Joyful Home shared a delish sounding recipe for Mint Limeade.  I have loads of mint growing in our garden and cannot wait to try this!

Saying Goodbye to a Much Loved Home

I know it has been some time since I last posted anything aside from our fabulous weekly Share Your Style party, but unfortunately I have not been afforded very much time to create, photograph and write any new posts. This has been for two reasons, one being technical issues with our computer. At some point a virus was uploaded and has been wreaking havoc on our poor computer. Mr. Rosemary Lane has been trying to work on eradicating the virus and has to some extent been successful, but still it is moving at a snail's pace with a number of advertisement interruptions.

The other reason for my lack of being around has to do with a decision my parents made a month and a half ago. Let me explain.

As you may or may not remember me telling you before, my dad was diagnosed with vascular dementia about 4 years ago and his condition, as expected, has been gradually declining. So when my parents were up visiting this past May they made the decision to put their beloved Floridian home on the market and move back to Pennsylvania. This was a particularly tough decision for my mother since she has always loved Florida and lived the past 20 years in the house they had built in their over 55 active adult community.

As it would happen they listed their home in mid June and the house sold in 5 days with settlement at the end of July. Needless to say the past few weeks have been extremely busy and very difficult for my parents as they were in the final days of packing up their home in "The Sunshine State" and make the move so they can be closer to family.

So two weeks ago I spent 9 days in (not so sunny with 7 days of constant rain and thunderstorms) Florida sorting through old family treasures, collecting boxes, weeding out items they no longer need, and helping my mom prepare for her big move. Then I brought my dad north and he has been staying here in the guest quarters of 21 Rosemary Lane. My sister Kim had headed down to Florida last weekend to tie up the balance of what still needed to be packed for the movers, and she is heading home with my mom today. Hopefully we will be able to get them settled in their new apartments this coming weekend.

And then I will be back in full force geared up for the month of August!

Hope you all are enjoying a wonderful summer and don't forget to stop by tonight for the 24th Share Your Style link party opening at 7pm sharp!

Be there or be square!!!!

Quick DIY Sweater Inspired Chair

Ever since the Summer Tour hosted by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life last month, I have been racking my brain trying to think of great summer ideas to lighten and brighten up my guest bedroom. Actually I am leaving today for Spring Hill Florida to help my mom pack up 20 years worth of living in the sunny south, as both my parents will be up north permanently by the end of this month. My dad is flying back with me and will be with us until they make their big move to their new home the beginning of August. I wanted the guest bedroom to have a little more of a summer and coastal vibe for my dad's stay.

So as you may or may not remember, when I first decorated this room I had a slipper chair with a $3 damask slipcover I picked up from ReStore, and a sequin black pillow to dress it up. Well I decided to create a more casual look for the summer months but that little chair the way it looked just wasn't going to cut it for me.

I brought in one of the throws from the living room which has a sweater-like knit and used it as a cover for my freebie chair. The chair actually came with our cat Moe when we adopted him 2 years ago. Shhhh don't tell him. (Yes he knows he's adopted I mean about this being his chair!) It was simply laid on top of the chair where I then tucked it in where the back meets the seat and pulled the two sides from the front around to the back. A small piece of jute was slipped in between the loops of the yarn and then tied to secure. I thought the look was perfect for the feel I am shooting for in this room. It appears as if a light summer cardigan gave a big hug to my chair. The white color is exactly what I wanted and I love the added texture as well!

I moved the chair around the room to take advantage of the late afternoon sun so you could get a better look at her! Isn't she darling?

Both the throw and cute pillow are from Home Goods.

Mr. RL and I purchased the "little girl on the beach" painting at an art auction over 10 years ago. It has been in Grace's room for the past few years and still is one of my faves!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
