Fall Mantel ~ A Blend of Mercury Glass and Natural Elements.

I adore the colors of the fall especially against a bright white background. So this year I decided to use this concept plus a few of the pretty mercury glass and some natural materials to create my mantel display for autumn.

I think the contrast of bling and matte is so appealing.

If you know my fireplace you will also notice a little something different about it...specifically the brick surround.

That's right...I finally got the nerve up to paint that gosh darn ugly brick!

What you don't remember what it looked like before??? Here is my 2013 mantel.

Whatayathink???

Have a great weekend!!

  10. Barbara, don't take this wrong but I can't say I like (love) it any better because I think they are both equally beautiful, I couldn't pick my best! But, I do love the bling with the rustic and it just so happens that I did something similar, we seem to share more than just a birthday, although I want to go and tweak mine now! but I won't..Happy Weekend to you..xo Judy

  11. I love your mantel. I love fall colors too. They really pop against the white. I love the painted brick. Wish I could do mine but I have my husband to consider and he's kind of a brick and wood man if you know what I mean. I think brick is the only thing in my house I haven't painted so I guess fair is fair. Have a great weekend.

  12. Sometimes I think not using orange any other time of year is a shame, because it is such a happy color...looks lovely in your arrangements anc accessories. Great Job!

  13. One is warm and cozy and the other vibrant and elegant, I would use both depending on the event or your mood. Beautiful fall in your home, it is a shame we don't use orange for anything but fall and halloween.

  15. Beautiful! I know it took a lot of nerve to paint the brick but it looks so nice! I just recently convinced my dad to paint his and it's amazing the difference it can make. Brick can look perfect outside but sometimes not so much inside. Your mantel decorations are pretty! I love that leaf garland with the mercury glass.

  17. I love mercury glass! I use it throughout my beach house and it is an all-season decor element. It's just beautiful what you've created for fall in your home.

  18. Love the contrast of the mercury glass with the natural elements as well as the colours you've used. Beautiful fall mantel - pinned! Painting the brick has allowed the décor above to coordinate with the whole look. Good job!

  23. I do love the mantel; the mercury glass, the orange and the differing textures. The painted brick, not so much. I guess I like the contrast and the rustic nature of the natural brick.

  24. But, I LOVED your 2013 mantle with the unpainted bricks! It added another dimension. I love all the Fall decorations in the 2013 photo you posted, too. Your new mantel photo is lovable, too, with is stark white backdrop. That's really the trend....

  25. Thank you so much for your comment. I suppose I was really ready for a change and once I painted the room a lighter color the red brick just didn't set too well with me. It was also really hard to keep clean. I am hoping now with a laytex finish the brick will be easier to clean. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
