Good morning everyone and welcome to day three of this sensational
Christmas Home Tour Series put together by my sweet friend Marty from the blog A Stroll Thru Life. Yesterday.s tours ended showcasing Jennifer's beautiful home over at Decorating Delirium. If you haven't seen her tour it is simply a must along with all the other tours which have been posted thus far. And remember there are still two more days in this home tour series, that means ten more homes to visit after today.
So without any further ado, here is our 2016 Christmas tour.
As usual, I typically start with the entry to our home. Notice anything different? That's right...we finally have a new banister on our staircase leading upstairs. Mr. Rosemary Lane put up the new banister just this September. It is still not totally complete as I would like another railing to lead down from the landing to the floor, but hey it took 14 years to get this much done so for that I am thrilled!
I am such a sucker for florals too.
I decided to make my own fresh garland to adorn the new entryway feature. In a later post will share with you how I made the garland AND how to keep those live greens looking fresh all through the holiday season, .
Next it is on into the living room which is quickly becoming my favorite room during the winter months. This year I kept the bright yellow shag pillows from the fall and added blue and green tartan plaid pillows I purchased at Home Goods.
The tree also took on plaid in the way of ribbon and for the first time in, and I am talking decades, I put tinsel on our tree. Found it over at Hobby Lobby for just under 2 dollars a pack.
The mantel has a much more simplistic feel than it has in the past. The dark blue from the pillows is carried onto the mantel using a couple ginger jars. More fresh greens above the mirror and a few Christmas balls on the mantel are added for a festive feel.
Now on to the kitchen for my other big reveal...do you notice anything new???
Ding ding ding ding...you got it right again! Finally my new pendent lights above the center island are installed! And can I tell you how much I love love love them!
The greens on the top of our hutch are mixed in with a faux holly garland I picked up on clearance at a little gift shop near me a few years back.
And of course my vintage skis made their way back into the kitchen. Still can't believe I snagged them at a yard sale for only $15.
I really enjoyed getting the kitchen ready for Christmas this year. The gray walls with white bead board made it easy to incorporate a festive red into the room's decor.
And so this finishes up my 2016 Christmas tour of 21 Rosemary Lane. I sure hope you are enjoying this week of home tours. I have been so enthralled with checking out all the fabulous homes on this tour that I have begun to neglect finishing up my Christmas shopping. Bad mama!!
Next on the tour is Linzy & Co. so be sure to hop on over to see what Linzy has put together this year in her home for the holidays!
Also wishing you all a wonderful Christmas season.
XO

Wow, love your home - it is so beautiful all decked out with your Christmas decor. Love the tinsel - brought back many memories of trees growing up in Ohio.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas.

Oh so beautiful. I love how you always add such detail to your decor with the flowers and the greenery. The blue plaid is so pretty this year and I agree, the pendant lights and the new railing are fabulous. Thanks so much for joining the tour, you home is always such a treat.
ReplyDeleteRosemary your entry is stunning and I can't wait to learn how to make the fresh garland. I love the touches of tartan too. Beautiful tour!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! That garland on your stairs is amazing. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteBarbara- it's all so perfect especially that tinsel. growing up we would find that stuff in the carpet all year round. i love those pillows. i actually eyed them at our local home goods, went back to get them....and they were gone. I don't usually shop at home goods ( too far away) but now I know what i need to do next time i see something that I like. Happy holidays to you and your family . and tell hubby to keep up the good work getting those projects completed!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Barbara! I love the new railing and the garland. A staircase's most important role is to be a Christmas decoration!! I have always wanted one just for that reason. Everything looks beautiful and those new lights are so special. Just the finish for your wonderful kitchen. It all looks so homey and classic. Love the tinsel too..Happy Holidays..xxoJudy
