Good morning everyone and welcome to 21 Rosemary Lane. If you arrived here by way of Alicia's blog Thrifty & Chic, welcome. I am sure you enjoyed a wonderful tour of her beautiful home. If this is your first time visiting 21 Rosemary Lane, let me just say I am so happy your decided to stop by on this leg of the tour. And for those of you who have been here before, well I hope you find some of the changes I made to our home to your liking. So without further ado, on to my summer home tour of 2017.
Our home here in the suburbs of New Jersey is a mid century cape cod style home. I love the traditional layout of our home which sits on one acre of land, I would share with you the front exterior of our home this year however it is being prepped for a major face lift this summer. So here is a peek at what she looked like last summer.
Our plan is to remove the old landscaping in front of the brick portion of the house and put in a porch which will extend the length of the brick facing. We also plan to apply a mortar technique to the brick in a effort to give it a more aged look. We also want to put in a new walkway with new landscaping, and replace the front door. Our goal is to achieve a look something like the mock-up below.
So after sharing that little tidbit with you come on in and take a look around! This year for the summer I decided to switch out the cute Antibes green chair in entry and replaced it with a potted plant.
In the living room the large rectangular pane mirror was swapped out for this little more contemporary round mirror I found last week at Home Goods. Just the change needed for the summer.
I also purchased a few new Tommy Bahama throw pillows to add that tropical feel to the sofas.
The little Antibes green chair ended up replacing the original piano chair. Now that I am looking at this pic below, I think the chair would be stunning in front of a white painted piano!
The dining room met with a change last week in the way of color. Yup the blue gray is gone and it is now in with a green gray color called Nantucket Gray from Benjamin Moore's historical collection.
Just below the dining room window is Mr. Rosemary Lane's much cherished rose bush. When the window is open the sent wafts right into the house!
Our lilies on the side of the house are also in full bloom right now.
And while we are outside let me show you our backyard. Yes that is an above ground pool cleverly disguised with several rather large ornamental grasses. Later this month I will place Tiki torches around the pool for Grace and Micheal's evening swims!
Finally our back screened in porch is the hub of our summer living. Every piece of furniture on the porch was acquired from a thrift shop, a roadside find, or was just simply bequeathed to us. Some day I'd love to buy all new furniture for this space.
And so ends this year's tour. I want to thank Marty of the elegant blog A Stroll Thru Life for putting together this incredible series of blogger home tours. Next on the tour is Decorating Delirium with fellow blogger Jennifer. I am sure you will be wowed by her beautiful style.
And be sure not to miss any of this week's tours!

ReplyDeleteLove the changes you are making to the front of your home, it will be stunning. The new green in the dining room is fabulous too, such a pretty color. I always love seeing your screened porch, it is where I would be all year if possible. Thanks so much for joining the tours, your home is always such a delight.
ReplyDeleteLove your garden and screened in porch such a great space. And those are awesome Tommy Bahama pillows, I saw that they had great Tommy Bahama melamine plates at HomeGoods the other day too.
ReplyDeleteYour new wall color is absolutely stunning! Love your summery patio. It's such a delight to share this wonderful tour with you.
ReplyDeleteI really like the new color on the dining room walls, makes everything pop so nicely.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, your home is so lovely, warm and comfortable. LOVE your screened porch. it looks perfect with your wonderful thrifted pieces. I love old wicker and will choose it every time over "new" sets for outside gatherings.
ReplyDeleteI still remember your lovely spring tour Barbara and your blue and white collection which I absolutely adore, and now, I can feel summer emanate thru your entire home! Just perfect dear! I love your screened porch the most, wish we had one, and I can't wait to see it all done up front! So honored to share this home tour with you! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, love your buffet!
ReplyDeleteHi from Queensland Australia. I appreciate having a chance to visit your beautiful American home. I loved it when you said you were trying to get a more tropical feel. I live in the Queensland tropics. Thanks for sharing . Pauline.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, what a lovely home! Your grounds are gorgeous, too! I don't think I'd ever leave that porch during the summer if I was you. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, this is so lovely. It all looks very cool (not only in slang but in actuality!). You know I am partial to blue but your dining room is stunning. All the colors that you have done just shine against your dark wood furnishings. With just a few different pillows and a change of color, your porch is so different. I love the new look for the front and can't wait to see it all done. You have done a beautiful job and now I'm on to visit others on the tour..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy

Everything looks so pretty! I love all the blue and green in your dining room. Thanks for sharing on the tour.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, Barbara, everything is just beautiful for summer at your home! I love the plans for the front of your house! The part with the semi-exposed brick looks like the "German Smear" technique I saw on "Fixer Upper". I mortar washed my whole house (has a more solid look but more variation than paint) about 13 years ago and it has held up so well. I like painted brick too...it looks like you are going to that to one side of your front facade. So clever the way you hid your above ground pool!
