Recently on Feathering My Empty Nest, I shared a couple of posts about my summer vacation to the gorgeous Canadian province of New Brunswick:
Now that Labor Day has come and gone, we have to face the fact that summer is truly in our rear view mirror. And while I will miss all the fun in the sun, there is a lot to celebrate about Fall. Last week's terrific party posts definitely have me excited about all things Fall. And I am sure that this week's features will inspire you too.
This Week's Featured Links:
The end of summer means back to school, back to our routines, and back to jam-packed schedules with little time to cook. Lydi from Lydi Out Loud helps out with that, with her quick and easy but flavor-filled and nutritious week night recipe for "Basil Couscous Salad With Citrus Roasted Chicken."
With the advent of Fall, our attention moves indoors, and Paula from Sweet Pea shared a super fast and super chic DIY tutorial for an interior decor piece to display those books on your Fall reading list. Her industrial style bookshelf made from galvanized steel pipe and pipe fittings just screws together in 5 minutes --no welding required.
Fall is all about the pumpkins. And these Twisted Paper Bag Pumpkins from Cathy of Vintage Paint And More will add a unique neutral but textural element to your autumn decor. I particularly love the charming details of the newsprint leaves and twine-covered stems.
Another pumpkin oriented post that caught my eye was from Master Pieces Of My Life. I have been seeing metal pumpkins all over the place this year, and Mary Jo has artfully incorporated these galvanized gourds into a truly inspiring fall garden vignette.
Lastly, when I think of Fall, I think of hot apple cider and donuts. Mini from Moms Need To Know combines both of these Fall treats with her delicious recipe for "Homemade Apple Cider Donuts." She totally has me imagining my sweater wearing self, sitting on my screened porch, sipping coffee, and scarfing down a donut or two as I watch the leaves change!
