Farmhouse Style Easter Breakfast Table in the Kitchen

Hello, good morning and happy Monday! OMGosh has it been busy since March 20th...the first day of spring. I hope you all had a chance to visit part one of 21 Rosemary Lane's spring home tour last week. If not you can be whisked away to the tour by clicking here. Today I am giving you a sneak peek at part two by sharing with my kitchen table all set for an Easter breakfast.

I like to keep things simple in the kitchen so this year the Easter touch is added in the way of my little bunny salt and pepper shakers I bought several years back. They are from Fritz & Floyd.

Yellow and pink tulips (tulips happen to be my favorite flower) placed in a galvanized bucket adorn the center of the table.

Hard cooked farm fresh country eggs are ready to go as they sit in a white ironstone bowl.

The pretty napkins from Ralph Lauren add the perfect touch of coordinating color to the yellow and white plates. (Did you notice the adorable little bunnies embossed on the plate rim?? How cute is that??)

Apples on a two tiered plate stand add a little more color to the backdrop of the tablescape.

I love the pops of color against the crisp white and neutral gray of the kitchen walls.

Are you getting your home ready for Easter??? It is only a few weeks away!
Wishing you all a fabulous week!

Easter Centerpiece

Hello everyone and Happy Easter Monday. I know this post is going out rather late today but to be honest our holiday guests just left a few short hours ago and I am trying to get myself a little bit caught up. I trust you all enjoyed a very Blessed Easter yesterday. Ours was most enjoyable. First we had brunch at my sister-in-laws home with Mr. Rosemary Lane's family. Being one of nine siblings who still all live within the state, it was quite a large gathering. Later on in the afternoon my family was up for dinner and to stay overnight. This way they all could relax without worrying about the hour drive home.

Late Saturday afternoon I decided to set the table for Easter dinner. I was at a bit of a loss for what to have as my centerpiece. Christmas is always so easy for me since I own tons upon tons of Christmas items to use in creating something special for the table. Unfortunately Easter items are much less plentiful here, however my sweet hubby did pick up a few potted plants for the weekend. So I grabbed a daffodil plant and placed it in one of my ironstone soup tureens and began to create.

Next I poked in a few of my faux pink tulips from Michael's along with some little white faux flowers I happen to have lying around.

Decorative grass helped to hide the plastic pot and a pretty pink and white gingham ribbon was tied in a bow on each of the tureen's handles. The tureen was placed in a larger ironstone bowl which was holding a darling egg wreath.

And I was all done! Easy right???
Now that Easter Sunday is over what is in your spring plans? I really want to get outside as the weather is really beginning to become nice. The grass has turned a vibrant green almost overnight and those pesky weeds have started popping up, but it is all good since it is Spring after all!

Have a great rest of your day!!!

A Sweet and Salty Easter Treat ~ Bunny Bait

Trying to catch the Easter bunny this year? Maybe this fun Easter treat I found over at the cute little blog Sing for Your Supper will be the right bait.  It is a take on one of my favorite treats known as White Trash, only this version uses the Easter M&Ms.

All you need is...
one bag of popped corn
one 12.60 oz bag of Easter M&Ms
pretzel sticks broken into thirds
one 12 oz bag of white chocolate
and
some colored sprinkles

Toss your popcorn, M&Ms and pretzel sticks in a large bowl. (Make sure you remove any un-popped kernels.) Heat the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments, stirring the chocolate in between. Continue until chocolate is melted and then with a rubber scraper, mix the chocolate into the popcorn mixture. Toss until well coated and then spread onto a jelly roll pan covered with wax paper, sprinkle on the sprinkles and let cool. Break it up into smaller pieces and enjoy.

But you better watch out because you just may end up catching something else other than the Easter bunny!

Natural and Textured Easter Mantel

This year I decided to go natural with my mantel display as I really wanted a woodland vibe. Nature is filled with texture so I added tons and tons of texture along with somewhat of an avian theme!!!

I used two wreaths, one grapevine and the other is a darling egg wreath I picked up a few years ago. I just bound them together using the wire from the egg wreath. The accent wicker balls or orbs were only $1.29 each and the silver compote, $14.99...both were purchased from the Christmas Tree Shop. The compote adds a little bling don't you think, to the otherwise neutral display.

Two of my new rush place mats are placed adjacent to the wreath...the texture adds interest to the back drop. (It also makes it much easier for photographing as well!) The faux spring greens look like garland and add color and texture to the display.

The two little chippy chicks are a recent purchase from Home Goods. Gosh I love that store!!!

I removed the fire screen since we won't be burning any wood as the weather warms up, and tucked some vintage suitcases inside the fireplace opening.

I only have a few more things to do to complete my spring decorating. How about you...what do you do to prepare for the warmer season ahead?

Speckled Easter Eggs

This couldn't be easier!! I found this cute idea for decorating eggs over at the blog Homework Creations.

All you need are your dyed eggs and a metallic Sharpie or pencil painter. I found both at Walmart.

And then just speckle your eggs!

So easy and so cute...just the way I like it!!!

Easy Burlap Wreath for Spring

Last fall I made the prettiest little burlap wreath with nothing more than an old wire hanger and 10 feet of some 4 inch wide burlap. Needless to say it was my most popular post of 2012. (To see my fall wreath click here.) Well yesterday I took Grace down to Michael's craft store because she really wanted to buy this American Girl like doll with some of the money my parents had sent her for Valentine's day. (ALERT...mommy bragging rights here!) I really couldn't say no to her since yesterday during her last basketball game, Gracie exceeded the century mark for points scored this season.
(Her final number was 106! Wohooo!)

So as she was looking at the dolls I decided to grab some more burlap and a couple of little embellishments to create a new wreath for spring. After all it is less than a three weeks away!

I picked up these cute little clip on butterflies...

...and this darling clip on pink birdie.

To make this wreath all you need to do is open up a regular wire hanger, you know like one from the dry cleaners. This becomes your form. Bend one end of the wire into a hook and on the other end begin to feed the burlap onto the hanger in a back and forth fashion creating loops. Continue unto all the burlap has been threaded onto the wire hanger, then make another hook with the other end of the wire and hook the two ends together. Using pliers pinch the two hooks until they are closed in order to secure the circle. I twisted the burlap so all of the loops were facing in different directions.

Next all I did was grab some egg garland I happened to have in my box of Easter decorations, and simply tied it on to the hanger wire with pieces of raffia. I then bent the garland to move the eggs around to my liking. If you don't have egg garland that's OK, any type of wired spring inspired garland will just as well.

I then fiddle and fluffed the burlap, trimmed the trailing raffia and clipped on the butterflies and bird.

This wreath is really simple to whip up and can make for a sweet Easter gift.

Are getting your home ready for spring?
Til next time...

Spring ~ Easter Mantel

This year's Easter mantel is sporting the colors black, white and yellow. Using fun items like the wood frame I painted yellow and lots of polka dots, I was able to create a whimsical French country spring display.

I found these adorable polka dot flowers at Michael's craft store. The flowers on the burlap garland have clips on the back so it was really easy to attach them to the burlap and to the wood frame I used to create a wreath. Even my clay pot bunny has white polka dots! For the tutorial on how to make the clay pot bunny just click here.

I then looked around the house for a few other black and white items and added them in to round out my display.

Voila...all done!!

Have a great day!!
