"Pippin" on Broadway!!!!!!!!!!!

So what do you do on a dreary Sunday afternoon in late March???

Why go to Broadway of course!!!
Yesterday afternoon Mr. Rosemary Lane and myself took our two little (well not so little anymore) Rosemary Lanettes to the theater district in New York City to see my absolute favorite musical in the entire world...
PIPPIN!

To describe the show in one word....

that would be...mmm...tough one...now let me think...yes this one will pretty much sum it up...

IT WAS
FABOULOUS!!!

It was a particularly energized audience and cast yesterday as the two lead actors were performing their final show together.

Patina Miller and Matthew James Thomas received resounding applause after each and every number.
And at the end of the production we were sitting close enough to see the tears in eyes of several cast members.

Miller soared as she revived Ben Vareen's award winning role of the Leading Player, or as I like to call the part, the "Master of Ceremonies".

Another huge thrill was to see Annie Potts live on stage in the roll of Berthe, Pippin's granny. Potts just joined the Pippin cast in January of this year. She was wonderful as she sang "No Time At All" while gyrating around on the trapeze.

And the acrobatics performed during the show were phenomenal!!!

This new production of Pippin incorporates the worlds of both musical theater and that of the circus seamlessly for a show which will doing nothing short of taking your breath away!

We all loved the production, just watching the You Tube trailer gives me the goosie!
And the music...oh the music...there is no other way to put it,
was simply out of this world!

Happy Monday everyone!!!

Tuscan Inspired Tablescape and a Giveaway from Pfaltzgraff

Last spring I was so very fortunate to be able to share with you a tablescape I put together based on the wonderful book The Secrets of Pistoulet by Jana Kaplan. The book's beautiful illustrations by graphic designer and photographer Mary Tiegreen were adapted by Pfaltzgraff to create a gorgeous collection of dinnerware called Pistoulet

(To see the Pistoulet table setting just click here.)

This year I was thrilled when the good folks at Pfaltzgraff asked me to create another tablescape using their breathtakingly vivid Villa della Luna collection. This collection is based on Kaplan's sequel to The Secrets of Pistoulet, the book
"Dancing with the Moon ~ A Story of Love at Villa della Luna".

Again Kaplan's fairy-tale was illustrated by Mary Tiegreen and published in 1997. In 2004 Pfaltzgraff adapted Tigreen's illustrations to design their Villa della Luna collection, so 2014 celebrates the tenth anniversary of this stunning dinnerware

This time the journey of our heroine Mademoiselle J. brings her to The Villa della Luna, a magnificent seaside abode in Italy. As in Pistoulet, the Villa is an unexpectedly delightful place where Mademoiselle J. discovers her "true self" through both daily walks with her dogs and more encounters with enchanted recipes.

Pfatzgraff's Villa della Luna collection is superbly weighted and beautifully decorated with the bright colors of earthy Terra cotta orange, sunflower yellow, and deep Mediterranean blue.

I just adore these pedestal mugs, they seem to make what ever hot beverage I am drinking that much more special. These can hold a full 12 ounces of tea or coffee.

At The Villa della Luna one can experience the magic of wonderful delicacies such as The Minestrone of Memories and Reflection which unlocks memories of the past to help one to move on with their future. I can imagine this cheery soup bowl as the perfect vessel for such a culinary delight.

I love the bright and bold design of the dinner plate and how it contrasts with the lighter more delicate and somewhat whimsical pattern of the scalloped salad plate.

This beautifully designed sangria pitcher filled with tulips is the perfect centerpiece for my rustic Italian tablescape.

And since Kaplan's tale is one of love, I could't help but to add two chippy love birds to the table.

I absolutely love the idea of dining Al Fresco even if there still is a wee bit of snow on the ground.

At about 6:30 in the evening I went outside to break down my tablescape and this is what I saw ...

The gray stockade fence had been transformed into a glowing hue of spun gold in the light of the setting sun...almost as if by magic!

I can't help but to think that possibly the enchantment of  The Villa della Luna may have had something to do with this beautiful metamorphosis.

A Couple of Updates for March

Yay it is finally March and hopefully spring will be here sooner rather than later! Lucky for us, we here in the upper mid-Atlantic states dodged this latest snow storm. I hope those of you in the Maryland and Washington DC areas, and any other state being impacted by winter storm Titan, will fair well. I pray that you do not have to deal with too much disruption to your lives due to old man winter's death grip on this year's wintry weather. I say next year they try pulling a rabbit out of that dang hat up in Punxsutawney Pa., we may have better luck with our wait for spring!

So what's new here at Rosemary Lane???

To start, last week I was contacted  by the fabulous people at Pfaltzgraff asking if I would like to partner with them once again and create a tablescape using their stunning Villa della Luna collection. I am so excited...can you tell?  In addition they have also been wonderful enough to sponsor a giveaway here at 21 Rosemary Lane. To one of my super lucky readers they are offering a 20 piece service for four including pretty pedestal mugs and a beautiful sangria pitcher!

So stay tuned for details and when the giveaway will be taking place.

Next let me update you on my master bedroom makeover. I did paint the room using a color I selected from Benjamin Moore called Ivy Lane. I originally thought the color was pretty close to the inspiration room's color, and while it is a very pretty color, after living with it for about a week it turns out Ben Moore's Ivy Lane is just a wee bit too dark for what I wanted in the bedroom. So I am back to choosing a new color. I may just have to make that one hour round trip up to the C2 Paint store in Chatham and check out their color New Leaf, the one they used in the House Beautiful bedroom.

It has just the right ratio of yellow to blue without being too dark. I want my space to feel very fresh and bright like the House Beautiful room.

I did decide to rearrange the furniture and incorporated a pretty interesting configuration with regard to my bureau. I went "out of the box" with my thinking and I really like the result. I also have been doing more shopping to find elements to help give me the vibe of my inspiration room...wait until you see what I have purchased! If all goes well my goal is to post the bedroom reveal sometime before the end of this month.

And like everyone else I am waiting for the snow to melt so we can begin to be see the little signs of spring.

Wishing you all a great week!

Pfabulous Pfaltzgraff Dinnerware Review Plus One Amazing Giveaway

Today I am extremely excited to be able to share with you this homespun inspired Country Cupboard dinnerware from one of my favorite dishware companies Pfaltzgraff. The Country Cupboard collection is not only incredibly pretty but is also very versatile. The style and color of this set make it perfect for casual everyday use and yet is still elegant enough for more formal occasions. I love the classic atique look of this pattern with its beautifully distressed edges. So since we are less than 2 weeks away from turkey day, I wanted to create a festive Thanksgiving tablescape for my newly revamped kitchen using these gorgeous pieces.

The full place setting is comprised of a dinner plate, one salad dish, a soup bowl and a generously sized mug.

As part of the collection there is also a coordinating 4 piece kitchen set which includes these cute salt and pepper shakers...

...trivet...

...and a spoon rest.

Oh and I do not want to forget to mention this charming rooster canister. It's the perfect place to hold yummy dinner rolls for a holiday meal.

I have to tell you that I am truly thrilled with this collection. Not only does this pattern beautifully compliment my freshly refinished rustic kitchen table, but the plates are nicely weighted and all pieces are both microwave and dishwasher safe.

OK, now for the best part...Pfaltzgraff is offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win a 32 piece, yes you read that right...a service for 8, of their Country Cupboard dinnerware.
