For the past several posts I shot most of my photos on the back patio...I love all the natural light out there. And if you have been following me you've already seen a corner of this space in my tablescape post. (The table set is really old...my parents passed it down to me over 17 years ago.) So in this post I am showing you the rest of our outside retreat. The porch was already here when we moved to Rosemary Lane about 10 years ago, but the floor was plain gray concrete and the inside of the space was only primed...never painted.
I love this lantern...I found it at TJ Maxx for only $15.
My chandy in the next picture is nothing more than two wire flower baskets, which have been sitting in the garage for the past few years, hooked together with one of those flameless candles placed inside. I just moved one of the chains from the top of the basket to the bottom and hug it from a simple mug hooked I screwed into one of the rafters.
And you remember my thrifty candlestick find from Saturday...
The floor is actually painted to look like tile...to see how this was done click here and you will be taken to the tutorial. The curtains are simple tab top panels from Walmart ($10 each) which I hung from regular drawer pulls. I put the drawer pulls over paneling nails that were hammered into the porch wood. The reason for using paneling nails was because they happened to be the perfect gauge for the drawer pulls to slip over snugly. A little Gorilla glue was added to the nails to make sure the drawer pulls are securely attached.
This is a space we really enjoy using. And now that a little bit of the indoors was brought outdoors, it feels like we have a whole new room in our home.
