Princeton University is a private, Ivy League, research college located in beautiful Princeton New Jersey. Last Thursday we spent the afternoon just roaming around this amazing and historic campus.
The university was founded in 1746 in Elizabeth N.J. as the college of New Jersey, then moved to Newark, N.J. in 1747 and then to Princeton in 1756. The university was renamed Princeton University in 1896.
The architecture of Princeton's extraordinary buildings spans four centuries and includes a variety of architectural styles.
Styles of architecture include colonial, Collegiate Gothic, Italianate, Romanesque and modern.
Below is a upshot of Nassau Hall, the oldest building on campus.
This is the front of the Princeton University Chapel.
The chapel, which is more cathedral like to me, decorated for the holidays.
The next photo is of the Firestone memorial Library.
Our day in Princeton was so enjoyable that even Michael and Grace loved the time they spent walking around the campus. Of course they were absolutely convinced they were at the Hogwarts School of Harry Potter fame!
Wishing you all a safe and wonderful new year!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful campus. I love the older, historic schools. There is just something about them that a more modern university can't compete with, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Princeton. Thanks for taking us along to this beautiful campus.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour! Our daughter got her PhD there, and we enjoyed visiting her while she was there. The campus is gorgeous, and we just loved walking around the little downtown area. Wish we had an excuse to go back!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos! I adore the architecture on that campus. We went to a wedding in that chapel years ago and it was so magical!

Hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous, as always! This really is a beautiful university and campus. The Gothic architecture reminds me of Duke University in Durham, NC. I always loved day trips like that when our son was young.
Your children are growing up fast, aren't they? Grace truly is a lovely girl, Barbara. Thanks for sharing your pictures and have a wonderful weekend!
