Last summer my dear friend Donna handed me a box and asked me if I was at all interested its contents. I opened it up and there was this brassy metal chandelier form with a stack of glass panels all taped together with some blue painter's tape. Not ever wanting to pass anything up that is free, I said sure, brought it home and promptly put it in the garage not giving it another thought.
Then about 10 days ago I was rooting through the garage in search of a few boxes to use to corral some of the kids old books, and I came across the little forgotten box. So I took the chandelier out and was this close to tossing it when the thought struck me to possibly paint it and somehow update the chandy's look for our home office. At the time we had this hideous over sized ceiling fan with those ugly bell shaped lights as the office ceiling fixture, and to be honest I have always hated it. Mr. Rosemary Lane was hesitant to get rid of it because he likes the idea of a wall switch to turn on the ceiling light. What I wanted was something a little less bulky (and ugly).
So I cleaned up the brass, and then at the suggestion of my other sweet friend Colene, gave it two coats of a bright red paint using Krylon's Super Maxx Gloss spray paint. After it was completely dry, which took a little longer than regular spray paint usually does, I cleaned up the glass panels, put them back on the chandelier, and then went ahead and made little bows to place just in front of each panel. I found the darling Buffalo check ribbon at Michael's Craft store for just a few dollars.
Then last night we hung the new chandelier.
And it is perfect!
Thank you so much for stopping by today, I always appreciate your visits.
Wishing you all a super spring weekend and a very blessed Palm Sunday!
