Small Laundry Room Ideas

Wow this summer has flown by. I know I have been pretty absent from my regular blogging with the exception of our weekly Share Your Style party. All I can say is that A LOT has been going on and actually still is. I will have to fill you in later when things begin to settle down a bit. Oh and speaking of settling down my kiddos go back to school this week! Woo Hoo!!! That will definitely loosen up a few hours during the day so I can stay more connected with you my most valued readers.

So as it goes I am still waiting on Mr. Rosemary Lane to install our new banister in the entryway, and lord knows when my kitchen pendent lights will go up. But with that said I am already looking to the next two rooms I'd like to tackle before Christmas this year. That being our laundry room, which lies next to the kitchen, and the adjacent half bath. The laundry room space is rather small with 4 doors. Yes four!! One to the bathroom and one to the kitchen, one to the garage and one to the back porch, of which we totally do not need. At least that door does contain a window allowing for some natural light to come in to the space. So you know me...where do I go for some inspiration...the Internet!

Here is what the rooms currently looks like...

The first thing I plan to do is to remove everything attached to the room's walls. I think it will totally open everything up for me making the space seem much larger. I would like cabinets over the washer and dryer with some open shelving, and I love the idea of building a counter just above the two units to use as a work space.

Where that awkward brown pegboard door closet is, I would really like to create a place for the kids to store their school books, coats and winter boots, plus seating of some sort where then can sit down to put them on and pull them off.

I originally thought about just carrying the idea of the bead board and gray color of the kitchen into the laundry room, but then after looking around the internet for ideas, I thought the small space may end up being too dark for my taste. Quickly I began to realize I was drawn to white board and batten walls as well as the look of white shiplap.

As for the bathroom off the laundry room, which is actually a large half bath, I am also considering board and batten or shiplap.

Although I do love the look of this half bath created by Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame. To me this space feels like it has a little Ralph Lauren influence happening.
Very pretty.

So my search goes on. I am definitely going to keep the same farmhouse feel throughout the laundry room and bathroom that I have kind of started in the kitchen. I really do like that look.

Here is hoping your week goes wonderfully with lots of little nice surprises.

XO
Oh wait one more thing...you may or may not have noticed on my sidebar that beginning September 12th, and going to the 16th is my dear friend Marty's (from the blog A Stroll Thru Life) parade of homes Fall Tour. Don't miss that week because it is sure to be loaded with all kinds of autumn inspiration!!!
