Our Fall Mantle and Hearth

It's on it's way...my favorite season of the year!!! I love all the color and warmth associated with the autumn, so much beauty and inspiration. It's like Mother Nature's version of a Mardi Gras celebration before she moves us into the colder cooler colors of winter.

This year I am also thrilled to have my new mantel to work with. It is so much more substantial and brighter that what we had before, not to mention I have a full 10 inches in width to decorate.

I wanted to keep the display on the top of the mantel simple yet colorful, so I grabbed my two treasured white swans and added a little faux bittersweet around them.

Then I filled some glass vases with pretty faux pears, kumquats and wine corks. And also added a few silver touches to give the display a little bling.

This burlap wreath I made last year using a wire hanger. To read how it was done just click here.

I purchased this beautiful basket to hold wood at our local Home Goods for only $20. The galvanized vases I picked up at Walmart for $5 each, then just filled them with some faux foliage. Those sweet pumpkins I have been collecting for years.

Are you thinking Fall yet???
Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

XO

  1. Hi Barbara. Your mantle looks so pretty. I haven't done any fall yet. I've joined FB and Pinterest. I love Pinterest, but I find it really hard to get away from the computer. I've spent all morning putting the darn facebook follow on my blog and all I could figure out is the great big uggy picture thing. You were so helpful with the header info if you have any thoughts on the matter, I would LOVE to hear them..Happy Weekend..Judy

  5. Love your fall decorations. I really like everything that you put on the mantle and fireplace.
Yes, I am just waiting until Tuesday and it's full steam ahead for my fall decorating. I can hardly contain myself. Now if all my aches and pains go away for a couple of days, I'm good to go.
    Have a great weekend.

  6. Barbara, I love your mantle... and that you said that fall was Mother Nature's Mardi Gras.
What a great comparison! Great fall decor... the mirror really reflects your pretty design.

  7. I usually decorate for Fall after the holiday weekend. But i am not feeling it this year. Think I will wait a bit. It's 90(ish) and HOT!!! The Sycamore in the neighbourhood is already a nice golden and has lost some of it's leaves.... My favourite season, but might ( MIGHT) wait for a couple more weeks.
    Luv your decorations though :-)
    Hugs, Gee

  9. Love the mantel and hearth, Barbara! I can't wait to dig thru my boxes this weekend! I usually start around September 1st. I have been looking around for inspiration. I 'think' I know what I want to do; but, you know how everything can change, once you start playing!

  11. Barbara, this is gorgeous. I was in Kirkland's today, and they have some beautiful pumpkins similar to those on your hearth if you want to add to your collection. :) Love your mantel.

  15. Love, love, love your fireplace. The fall decor is just beautiful. The swans are so unexpected and yet work so well on your mantle scape. Wise move of you to make sure your mantle was wide enough to accommodate your decor. The mirror is stunning layered with the wreath and the plates. Great job. I am in the process of trying to get my own blog set up. It's rough when you really do not know how to use the applications out there. I have been trying to figure out how to watermark my pictures all week.
