Progress in the Home Office

Well our home office makeover is now in full swing. I have started painting the old paneling in my favorite shade of white, Ben Moore's Navajo White, and OMGosh it is already making the room feel larger, brighter and definitely more crisp.

And now that the old love seat is gone, I brought in the Ikea shelving unit we already had in another room. I do plan to purchase a few of Ikea's wicker bins that fit into the cubicals. The wine rack is gone as well, but not the wine!!!

 You know I really love the look of painted paneling, it has kind of a rustic vibe, so as I was painting I started to think of what type of artwork I'd like to display in this space. We live in horse and farm country so I thought about giving the office a bit of a country feel. Then I remembered this painting I bought a few years back up at the flea and antique market in Brimfield Massachusetts.

The artist paints on reclaimed shutters, this one was from an old barn. Here she is with the piece she sold to me at her booth up in Brimfield.

Talented isn't she? I did have her card at one point but now I have no idea where it is. All I can tell you is that the piece is signed by A CLOUD.

But I have to tell you that paining this paneling is taking longer that I thought. Even though it has been painted at least twice before, that old wood is just sucking up the paint. I am pretty much putting on 3 coats of the Navajo White.

The furniture placement is not set in stone yet due to the fact that I am still editing pieces out.

All in all it is coming along and I think this room is going to be a great space for me and Mr. Rosemary Lane to work.

Colorful Country Vignette

This is the buffet in my kitchen (yes I do have some furniture in my home which has ecsaped the mighty can of spray paint) and as you can tell I have a little thing for chickens. I know that they are probably headed the way of the cow and the pig, but I can't help it I still love 'em!

The wonderful art piece on the shelf I bought in Brimfield last month...it is actually a barn shutter and the chickens were hand painted. This piece has also been weather treated so it is safe to put outside.

I thought the candlestick lamps needed a little something so I tied a piece of raffia onto each lamp.

Brimfield's Special Finds

There was a lot to see up at the Brimfield Antique and Flea Market show, but there were 2 vendors that really stood out in the way of being truly unique!

Blue Girl Art was created by fabric artist Suzanne Meyer-Pistorius who is located in Springfield, Massachusetts. Suzanne recycles old furniture by reupholstering them with her own eco-friendly and upbeat interpretation on fabric design. Take a look...

Blackberry Road is another one of the very cool vendors at Brimfield this past weekend, and they are out of Deerfield, Massachusetts. Created by Gina Williams and Kristen Gewanter, these gals revive old lamps by adding new shades made from vintage fabrics to design the most wonderful one of a kind pieces. Check out what these talented ladies can do!!

Gina and Kristen will also work with clients to make custom lamps which coordinate with the colors and fabrics of their client's homes.

Day 3 - Final Day in Brimfield!

Last day here in Brimfield...we got to the market around 11am today, however, several vendors had chosen to begin packing things up for the last time this year. Still there was plenty of booths left we wanted to check out!

Prices were slashed big time yet many vendors were still willing to negotiate the lower asking price!

Gosh so many things to see and too little time experience them.

Day 2 in Brimfield

Today was another beautiful day spent in Brimfield. We made our way all the way down one side of the main strip...approximately one mile. Still there was more and more to see. Many vendors today were reducing their prices in order to move their inventory...very good for prospective buyers. Here's some more wonderful things we encountered today!

In the below picture is the set of Pyrex mixing bowls in a pink color that my parents received as a wedding gift 55 years ago. Antique right??? Well the blue set on top is the same set I bought back in the 80's when I first moved out on my own. I suppose this makes my things antiques too!!

(The pink bowl set was on sale for $8.00 for a set of 4 bowls in 1956...here the same set is being offered at $80!)

There was plenty of different foods to choose from...

One thing I tried to day was a deep fried Oreo cookie...is there anything more intriguing than a cookie dipped in 2 types of batter an fried in oil?

And one very interesting homemade bench!

Tomorrow in the last day at Brimfield and looking forward to maybe conquering a little more of what it has to offer!
