Blue & White on the Dining Room Table

I recently acquired my very first blue and white ginger jar from Home Goods and I have to say that it is soooooo pretty! I love blue and white together...to me it is the ultimate classic combination. And what better place to display my beautiful jar but on the dining room table. However one jar on this vast table wasn't going to work, so I shopped around my home for some complimentary pieces to create the table's vignette.

Silver is a beautiful accent metal to mix with blue and white. Using two silver candle sticks and hurricane globes, I flanked the center display. Then a pretty silver compote filled with faux pears was added to the vignette.

I also happened to have a large blue and white planter I bought years ago up in our attic, so down she came, was cleaned up and filled with faux hydrangeas and peonies. This arrangement anchors the entire vignette.

A couple of love birds sit on the right side of the large planter to balance out the ginger jar and compote on the left.

I also added a darling little milk glass vase to the display.

I think the green of the pears and hydrangeas really compliment blue and white as well as the silver pieces do. They also tie in to the green in our dining room's draperies.

I am going to be keeping my eyes peeled for more blue and white jars and vases to add to my newly started collection. How about you...what are your feelings about the combination of blue and white?

Wishing you all a great start to your week!

Simple Summer Coffee Table Vignette

For this vignette I wanted to keep things light and very simple because we really do use the living room in our home as the family room, so this road side find table gets A LOT of use.

I brought in from the back patio two pretty wire candle holders I bought last summer at the Christmas Tree Shops, and paired them with the wine cork serving tray I made a couple years ago. (To read how the wine cork tray was made just click here.)

An inexpensive somewhat beachy looking faux arrangement was added to the tray along with a small coordinating starfish. I then placed a pretty piece of blue glass in the way of a small vase on top of a stack of summer issue decorating magazines. I love to peruse through them while enjoying a little kid and hubby free alone time.

I am really liking the soft blue in this space...I may have to shop my home for more blue to add to the rest of the living room!

Wishing you all a great start to your weekend plans!

Colorful Country Vignette

This is the buffet in my kitchen (yes I do have some furniture in my home which has ecsaped the mighty can of spray paint) and as you can tell I have a little thing for chickens. I know that they are probably headed the way of the cow and the pig, but I can't help it I still love 'em!

The wonderful art piece on the shelf I bought in Brimfield last month...it is actually a barn shutter and the chickens were hand painted. This piece has also been weather treated so it is safe to put outside.

I thought the candlestick lamps needed a little something so I tied a piece of raffia onto each lamp.

Happy Autumn Everyone!!!
