The phone literally just rang and it was my sister Kim calling me from yet another yard sale down in Pennsylvania. This time she found what the owners described as a 60 year old dressing table.
She sent me this photo from her blackberry.

Take a look...
What I love about this piece is the really nice detail in the woodwork.
Not to mention the beautiful hardware!
There is a slight repair to make at the bottom of the desk...looks like it might be a chip in the veneer, but that can be easily fixed.
Oh and the cost on this beauty...a whopping $15!!! Not bad for just sitting in my kitchen!
I plan to pick it up on Monday and spend the afternoon with my sister and the kids.
Looking forward to working on this piece...I am thinking maybe I will use my new chalk paint I got at the Haven Conference, but I've got to ponder that over for a few days cuz this piece will probably be the first one I try to sell!!!
Barbara... what an excellent piece! Like you said, it has great lines and I can't wait to see what it turns out like with the chalk paint!

Good luck for your first piece. It's great coincidence that my name is Kim too (l0l). I was trying to redecorate my kitchen as well and bought a new white dressing tables to match my existing pieces.
