Easy Idea for Displaying your Christmas Cards...

I love to hang my cards up for the holidays but I seem to have the ongoing problem of what goes up, eventually all falls down! I don't know why, if its the tape I'm using or the surface I am trying to stick the tape to, but my cards, every year, fall down one by one.

So this year I came up with an idea to hang my cards without the use of tape. What I did was to first cut a piece of ribbon a desired length and thumb tacked it to the top of my door frame. Then I crafted a bow, took the excess floral wire and made a loop so I could hang it from the thumb tack thus obscuring the tack from view. For an extra decorative touch, I took one of my Christmas balls and hung it by pushing the end of the hook through the bow.

The ribbon I used is tulle-like which allows me to easily push the ornament hooks through it.

I then punched a hole in each card and took regular ornament hooks, hooked the card onto it, and again pushed the hook through the ribbon.

Voila...my cards are now hanging without using any tape. I can also string more ribbon across the top of the door frame to hang even more cards!

I say save the old tape for gift wrapping folks and enjoy a Merry Christmas!!

  1. Hi Barbara,
This is the best idea...your ribbon looks so pretty with the Christmas ornaments attached to the top. I've always displayed my cards this way and stapled the cards and pictures to the ribbon. I also like to look at the cards I receive. Have a very Merry Christmas!
