Interior Redesign...Guest Bedroom Retreat

My sister Kim has a spare bedroom which to me has always felt a wee bit like a box. She has one beautiful chest of drawers and another lovely piece she purchased at a yard sale for $10. Now that the holidays are here and our parents are up from Florida visiting for 3 weeks, it was time to do a little interior redesign on this forgotten space! So with a little help from me a couple Saturdays ago, along with Kim's eagle eye for yard sale finds, we were able to transform this ho hum spare bedroom into an elegant and comfortable guest room retreat.

Here are the Before photos....(sorry if some of them appear a little on the "glowy side"...Kim's room only gets the early morning sun and I hate shooting pictures with a flash)

As you can see there is very little furniture and absolutely nothing on the walls! So using almost all yard sale finds we created this...

The bed frame and small bureau across for the bed we got when we were up in Brimfield this past September. The throw carpet, mirror and lamp are more yard sale goodies.

And our mother's hand me down Queen Anne chair which was originally a mauve color, received a new look by using a simple pre-made slip cover.

The small ottoman is also from Brimfield...I think it was only $20. And the comforter set was a cast-off from one of Kim's co-workers...not too shabby eh?

This room is really beautiful now, and the best part is that the only thing Kim had to purchase was the chair's new slipcover.

I'd say this is yet another successful interior redesign!

  1. Very cozy Barbara! Great job and thanks for sharing. If you are still under the six months, even if you go over 100 you can still join in as long as you are not over 6 months, keep going up until then. Thanks for the support of the party.
