Today we spent the entire day at Monmouth Park Racetrack with Chris's family watching the horse races. There were 10 races total spaced at 20 minute intervals...and man oh man can these horses fly!!!
The facility at Monmouth is expansive as well as gorgeous. We were actually in our own sectioned off area almost right on the track. It was also close to the betting area as well as the bathrooms! (Two of the most important places at the track!!!)
The number of horses per race varied as some were scratched prior to, or on race day. We even saw one horse buck it's jockey and fly off down the track right before his race. It was amazing to see this horse run so free, but unfortunately he was scratched from that race because of the incident.
The stalls for the horses were moved around the track by giant tractors.
Since these horses are so high spirited, it was within seconds of the last horse entering it's stall that the race began.
Mr. Rosemary Lane did pretty good at the track today, he broke just about even!!!
We also had the chance to stand in the paddock as the horses for the 9th race were led around and then onto the track.
Below is Chris's uncle's friend's horse, Get Serious, with his jockey in the paddock just before the 9th race.
It was such a spectacular day...everyone had fun, from the great aunts and uncles all the way down to Chris's brand new itty bitty sweet baby niece!
By the end of the 10th race we all realized how very pooped out we were! Our day with family, food and fun had drawn to a close, but we drove home with so many lovely memories of our special day with family at the races!
I truly hope you are all enjoying this beautiful extended holiday weekend! Be safe and God bless.
