I wanted to post this last week before St. Patrick's Day but never got to it because I was so busy getting ready for our big bash on Saturday. We had a blast too...my guest ate EVERYTHING!!!
Anyway back in September of 2005 b.k. (before kids) my hubby and I took a 10 day trip through northern Ireland. It was simply stunning. Especially because we were in a drought here and everything had turned completely brown. There is no exaggeration when referring to Ireland as the "Emerald Isle". We landed in Shannon airport on the west coast of Ireland and rented a car. Now as you may or may not know, in Ireland they drive on the opposite side of the road than we do here, so we had a few close calls until Mr. Rosemary Lane got use to driving like the Irish!
Well we thankfully made it through unscathed and had a wonderful vacation. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our trip to the Emerald Isle.
I love this...it says...
"If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again."
This was one of my favorite vacations. The history, the people, the scenery, and even the rain were all experiences I will never ever forget!

Barbara,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are STUNNING! Very inspiring... might I use one or two to create a painting?
I have now added Ireland as a must visit spot... so happy you posted!
Happy spring!

I always thought I'd go there, but somehow never did. The closest I ever got was flying over Irish cliffs just like these on the way to Amsterdam/June, 1981. Thanks for the memories, such as they are! ...Wish I'd seeen them before St. Patrick's Day; it might have made the pub fare taste a bit better, though we both know better than to not make ourselves! Slainte! Saoirse!
ReplyDeleteBarbara: How beautiful. What a great vacation. Those places evoke all the fairy tales I've ever known. The anticipation that I 'might' get there some day is about the best I can do for now..Happy Spring..Judy P.S. You knew how to take beautiful photos even way back then!

i could not leave your blog without looking at your lovely photos of Ireland! I've visited Ireland many times and fall in love with each and every time. It feels like "home" to me so I know the ancestral pull from my father's side is very strong. I hope to make one last visit to the NW portion of Donegal and the Aran Islands -- they are the only places I have yet to see.
ReplyDeleteI came back for another look through this week's Tablescaper's link up. Ireland is one of my favorite places to visit!
