My beautiful sister Kim just finished renovating her tired 1990's kitchen, and I have to say that the finished project is simply stunning! But before you go on to see it, I have to tell you how upset I am that I lost the "before" photos I took when our home computer crashed. So let me give you a little idea of what Kim's kitchen looked like prior to the renovation.
Basically the kitchen had all maple cabinets and flooring. There was an "L" configuration to the counter space which separated the cooking area from the kitchen table, dividing the kitchen almost in half. This extended counter and cabinets housed the dishwasher...not very convenient. The cabinet tops did not go to the ceiling, instead they were met by a soffit and had solid fronts. Also the counter top was laminate...funny I don't think I can remember what color it was!
So without further ado, here's my sister's kitchen.
How about those saddle stools...they were my contribution to Kim's new kitchen. I picked them up at a garage sale a couple years ago. They are Pier One stools and typically go for $59 apiece. What did I get them for? Two for $5!!! Aren't they just the perfect fit for her space?
So how about it.? I know she is so very happy with the way it came out...how could she not be? She even had the wood flooring re-stained a dark brown, what a great contrast to the light cabinets don't you think? The new island placed parallel to the sink really opens up the entire space. I also know that down the road Kim plans to put in a tile back splash and our mom is currently making curtains for the window over the sink. But for now Kim is loving life in her beautiful new kitchen!

Wow! Your sister's kitchen is gorgeous! I love the doorstyle she chose and the cabinets going to the ceiling. Stopping by from Inspiration Friday.
ReplyDeleteYour sister's kitchen is so pretty. Kitchen redos seem to be on everyone's radar, from just minor to extensive; & it doesn't seem to matter which way you go, it always makes such a huge difference. We are on the path of not exactly extensive, but not a fast redo either -- kind of middle of the road! Anyway, it's always fun to see what others have done. I'm a new GFC follower & look forward to perusing your blog some more.

Your sister's kitchen turned out beautiful. Although it's not a large kitchen, it's simply perfect to work in it! We remodeled our small kitchen two years ago, so I know she's going to just love, love it for ever!! Thanks for sharing.

Her kitchen is beautiful. Thanks for sharing at Wow.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty. I am drawn to a white kitchen and those countertops look like dead ringers for ours so I am definitely a fan of those too. I really like that her cabinets are lighted. Something I wish we had done but didn't. She has to be absolutely in love with her new space. Let her know we think it is stunning. Thanks for linking up this week.

ReplyDeleteI have a quick question about your blog, do you think you could e-mail me?
Brian
Elegant and functional kitchen is what I can see here. The use of space is so smart. There are a lot of storage spaces for kitchen utensils. And the décors added warmth on the space. Love the choice of color too! #Camille Edington
