Two weeks ago while at the balloon fest at Soleberg Airport in central New Jersey, I saw the cutest earring holders made with dollar picture frames. So I decided to make my own. ( I love to do this!!!)
As you can see by the sign, the earring holders were being sold for $12 each.
The frame I used was purchased at Michael's Craft store for $1 and the cute little appliques were 59 cents each.
I was kind of stuck on what to use for the mesh part of the earring holder, so while I was in Michael's I asked an employee if they had any plastic mesh and she led me right to the needle point canvas. Perfect...it was exactly what must have been used on the ones at the balloon fest. So for 59 cents each I purchased needle point canvas in different colors along with some craft paint that was on sale for $1. I also picked up a little stencil sheet for just under $2.
All I did was paint each frame, stencil on my design and glue the applique on. Then using the photo from the frame packaging as a template, I traced it on to the canvas and cut out the shape. Then I simply hot glued it in place!
This is a great party craft idea for kids that is relatively inexpensive...less than $2 each. (Of course mom can handle the hot glue gun!)
I think these are really cute...what do you think?
Have a great day!!!

Hi. So glad I found you through the Wednesday link party. These look so cute. I see a lot of cheap picture frames at thrift stores. This would be a fun way to upcycle them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking up today! So very glad to have you in the link party :) I need to get more frames from the thrift store now that you mention it! I found some at garage sales, but those are far and few since school is starting again. Have a lovely day!
