An Autumn Morning Outing ~ Hacklebarney Farm

On this drizzly Sunday morning we took a drive after church out to Chester N.J., to enjoy time with our dear friends along with a cup of hot cider and a little pumpkin picking. Where did we go...beautiful Hacklebarney Farm.

This is the store at Hacklebarney with all of its lovely pastries, jams, jellies, and delightful seasonal flowers and gourds.

Even Mr. Retriever was relaxing on a nearby porch watching the silly people mill around on such a damp day while getting their fill of fall flavors and atmosphere.

Upon finishing our hot cider and cinnamon doughnuts, we then headed out to the pumpkin patch to find our own great pumpkins!

After the pumpkins were picked and payed for, we went over to check out just how that wonderful hot cider was made.

The apples are stored in large bins just outside of the mill.

They are then dumped into bins inside the mill and go through this very large piece of machinery which reduces them to a mush like consistency. The mush is piped onto large trays covered with a special cloth. Once the tray is filled, the mush is wrapped in the cloth and another tray is placed on top of the covered apple mush, and the process is repeated.

The juice from the apple mush is pressed through the cloth and is then run through tubing and finally poured into plastic jugs for sale.

By now we were hungry for a little lunch not to mention our fingers were becoming a wee bit cold, so it was time for us to leave Hacklebarney Farm.

On the way home we enjoyed the autumn countryside.

Hope you are enjoying a very blessed Sunday and wishing you all a wonderful week.
