As you may already know I have been working diligently on the guest bedroom makeover to have it completed by the time my parents come up from Florida for a two week stay. In the past I have always relocated Michael to Grace's room in order for my parents to have his room with the twin beds. But it was never really their room since Michael was constantly in and out of his room to get clothes, toys, books and anything else he suddenly realized he needed once the door had been closed.
So since the kids came home 8 1/2 years ago the large bedroom on the first floor has served as the kids' TV and playroom. But now that they are older and really never use the room except to watch a DVD, I decided to take-back this corner of our home and convert it back into a bedroom.
The space itself is rather large so there is plenty of room for my parents to move about plus they won't have to climb anymore steps to retire in the evenings. I happen to have had a large dresser I purchased a few years ago at a yard sale in my garage just waiting to come and live in the large main floor bedroom. I paid $65 for both the dresser and the matching mirror.
Then while down the shore over Memorial Day weekend, I inherited two twin headboards and one twin mattress and box-springs from my dear friend Donna. She made settlement on a shore home and the previous owners left the bed plus the headboards behind. Since Donna offered them to me I quickly decided to rethink my room plan to include the twin beds.
So the painting begun.
Now are your ready for the one money shot I am going to show you for now??? You know like on that HGTV decorating show where they redo a room but only show the homeowner a quick little pic on their cell phone?!
Ta da!! That was it!!!
Whatayathink so far???
I am having such fun coordinating furniture and other elements in the room with Ben Moore's Cool Mint color on the walls. Still not sure what else I am doing to accessorize, so it will be a surprise to me to see how this all turns out. My parents will be here on Friday so I only have a couple more days to finish up my masterpiece!!!
Wishing you all a wonderfully productive week!
XO
Love it as always. Come do my house!!! :)

ReplyDeleteBarbara, just love the dresser. What was the paint that you used for the drawer fronts? Love the way the wood grain shows through the black paint. Thanks.
