Making Your Own Scented Drawer Paper

So as you know I am redecorating the guest room and I just finished painting the mirror and dresser. I wanted to add some pretty fragrant paper to the drawers without spending a lot of money.

Well a couple years ago Yvonne from one of my absolute favorite blogs StoneGable...(I can go on)...had posted this wonderful tutorial on how to make your own scented drawer liner using a nice grade wrapping paper, essential oil, a little warm water and a small spray bottle.

This was so easy peasy lemon squeezey to do that I don't know why I never did it sooner. First I purchased some wrapping paper at Home Goods, they usually carry a nice grade paper, and then I went to my local health food store to purchase an essential oil. I have to tell you that I was completely overwhelmed at the selection of oils the store had to choose from. They typically ran anywhere from about $6 to $16 for a 1 fluid ounce bottle. I kind of had it in my head that I wanted lavender so for $9.99 I picked up the oil. Then it was off to the drugstore for a small travel size spray bottle which only cost a dollar.

According to Yvonne's instructions all you need to do is measure your drawer sizes and cut the paper to fit. Then add a couple drops of the oil to the bottle and fill with warm water and shake. Now just mist the back of the paper and let it dry completely. Yvonne does remind you that the more drops you put in your bottle the stronger the fragrance will be on the paper.

I cut my paper a wee bit larger only because since I am not a super neat cutter I like to fold the ends over for a nice neat finish. I placed the paper in the drawers and was done. No mess no big expense, and I have plenty of oil to use for more drawer liner, sugar scrub soap and anything else I plan to make homemade.

As Yvonne suggested this would make a really pretty gift and with the end of school approaching I am thinking this would be a nice teacher gift. Just tie it up the scented paper with a raffia bow and add a little card saying something like...

Scented drawer paper made for the best teacher in the world!

Hope you all have wonderful plans for the beautiful weekend headed our way!!!

XO
