The Philadelphia International Home Show

Who doesn't love a good Home Show??
How about a great one???

Well grab a cup of coffee or tea, find a relaxing place with your laptop, or cozy up into the chair in front of your computer, and enjoy your tour of the Philadelphia Home Show.

Yesterday I had a fantastic time while milling around the Philadelphia Home Show with my sister Kim and checking out all the new gadgets, jewelry, clothes, kitchen designs, spas and even teeth whitening treatments...can you believe it?

Take a look at some of what we saw on the first day of the exhibition...

Gorgeous handmade sweaters and hats.

Beautiful kitchen design ideas.

I love the bead board on the back of this island and it has me thinking...mmmm....

A wine bar in its truest sense.

Beautiful landscaping...ahhh putting me in the mood for the Philadelphia International Flower show in March!

We didn't know what to think when we first saw this. It looked like something out of a sci-fi flick!!!

All these people in the bright yellow chairs are having their teeth whitened. It's a 20-30 minute procedure under the blue light and let me tell you that at $79 per person these seats were never empty for long! Even Kim got in on the action!!!

And the results...well from everyone I spoke to including Kim, all said that there was a marked improvement in the brightness of their teeth. This works on everything including bonding and veneers and lasts up to 24 months!!!

Next up are the room designs which were my favorite part of the home show. This fist room is a bedroom designed by K Gallery Art and Design for Philadelphia's ABC weather gal Melissa McGee.

This next room is a living room design and boy is it packed with color. Designed by Dwelling for Valerie Knight of WOGL radio station in Philadelphia. Look at all those little pops of orange!

Here is another gorgeous living room designed by Le Montague Interior Designs and it was created for Tiffany Hill of B-101 FM.

And the last room design but certainly not least of them is a bedroom/office designed by one of my favorite bloggers and I believe to be the absolute queen of re-purposed items, Denise from The Painted Home. Look at the dresser without the drawers and how Denise filled them with vintage suitcases. She said she actually found the piece this color and missing the drawers, so she just popped in the suitcases and voila!!!

And check out the half globe hanging light Denise made...

These are regular old bike wheels hung as wall art and displaying photos clothes pinned on to the spokes!

If you plan to attend the Philadelphia Home show, make sure you first visit Denise's blog The Painted Home. She offers a $4 discount off the regular at the door ticket price of $13.00.

There is also a little out cove at the Home Show which is certainly not to be missed. It is the Clover Market and has all types of thrifty finds, antiques and even so incredibly cool handmade items.

These are little handmade coin purses...so darling.

These handbags were created by artist Ginnie Burke Preston. Ginnie's limited edition bags and other accessories can be found at Duo on 41 Bridge Street in Lambertville, NJ.

And finally I can't say enough about Maryanne Petru-Gilbert and her skirts made from...

Old T-shirts!!!
Isn't that amazing??? Maryanne will use up to 8 different t-shirts to create one skirt. She also makes these skirts from old corduroy pants. (Now I know what to do with Mr. Rosemary Lane's 100+ t-shirts he has in his closet!)

Maryanne is located at 4101 Luriston Street in Philadelphia Pa.
Look at the scarfs she fashioned from old sleeves...so original!

There are also a few celebrate appearances happening at the Home showBoth HGTV's Todd Davis from Room Crashers and Kimberly Lacy from Curb Appeal are slated to appear at the show during the week.
The Philadelphia Home Show is running from Saturday January 14th through to Sunday January22 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 12th and Arch Streets in Philadelphia Pa.
There really is something for everyone!!!
Ciao 4 now...

  2. Barb,
This is a great Home Show. We have one coming up at the Moheghan Sun Arena which is right by our house but it will mainly be replacement windows, roffing, gutters and flooring and more of the same!!
